Pharrell Williams Named 2015 CFDA Fashion Icon Award Recipient
Pharrell Williams is set to join the ranks of Rihanna, Iman, Nicole Kidman and Johnny Depp as he is set to be honored with the Fashion Icon Award at the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards.
The coveted award is presented to an individual who has showcased a noticeably significant impact on popular culture on an international scale. Through these criteria, Williams seemed to be an obvious choice. In addition to his most recent statement hat, the "Happy" crooner co-founded the clothing brands Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream Footwear and has a long-standing partnership with Adidas.
"If cool was a person, it would be Pharrell, not just for his looks and sense of style but his kindness and openness," said Diane von Furstenberg, president of the CFDA. "I cannot imagine anyone not seduced by him."
The ceremony, in collaboration with Swarovski, will be held at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall on June 1.
In other Pharrell news, the singer, songwriter, producer and fashion designer is set to add literary scholar to his long list of titles as he has published his 7 Keys to Happiness on the Wattpad platform for the International Day of Happiness. In the work, he spreads his message about the importance of using happiness to promote world peace.
"Everyone can find their own route to happiness, understanding and truth," Williams said. "I'm intrigued by the idea of participating in a conversation with people all over the world about what happiness means to them."
