Depending on which side you ask, May 7, 1989, is remembered as one of the greatest Michael Jordan moments in NBA history or a reminder of the long-suffering existence of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Twenty six ago today, Jordan's game-winning buzzer-beater shot pushed the Chicago Bulls to a 101-100 victory over the Cavs and advanced them to the semifinals.

The last 10 seconds of the game played out like a movie. His Airness hit a jumper at six seconds to put the Bulls up 99-98. Cavs guard Craig Ehlo landed a layup, seemingly sealing the 100-99 lead over the Bulls — but it wasn't over just yet. With only two seconds left on the clock, MJ rose up to hit a jumper over Ehlo to steal the win.

Go on, we know you've seen the footage quite a few times over the last two decades. The shot deflates the Cleveland crowd. Ehlo fell to his to his knees in defeat and MJ leaped into the air with the emphatic fist pump.

No matter which side tells the story, "The Shot" reminds us that it's not how you start, it's how you finish.
