Tory Lanez’s Missing Gun Claim Dismissed by California Attorney General
The California Attorney General has officially dismissed Tory Lanez’s claim that the gun used in the July 2020 shooting of fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion had gone missing.
In a recent court filing, the Attorney General’s office argued that Lanez's attorneys failed to provide evidence supporting their claim that the LAPD had misplaced the weapon involved in his case.
“Petitioner has not satisfied his burden of providing reasonably available documentary evidence that would support his factual assertions,” the filing states, adding that Lanez's claim of a lost gun is “demonstrably false.”
Lanez’s legal team filed a petition in late October, alleging that the firearm could not undergo forensic or DNA testing because it had disappeared.
However, the filing includes a declaration from the LAPD confirming that the gun, along with related evidence, remains in their custody.
“LAPD still has custody of the firearm and the firearm’s magazine, as well as the casings and fragments that were booked into evidence,” the document reads.
Megan Thee Stallion's lawyer, Alex Spiro, also refuted the missing gun claim, stating that the weapon is “there and available” for testing.
This update comes on the heels of Lanez’s latest attempt to overturn his 10-year sentence for the July 2020 shooting incident.
