Bishop Long’s Settlement No Longer on the Down Low
The Bishop Eddie Long's sexual misconduct lawsuit may not be handled as quietly, or on the down low, as he wanted. In an about face, the judge in the case said yesterday that he is preparing for a trial in the fall.
It was over the Easter weekend that Judge Johnny Panos said that the involved parties had resolved a lot of major issues and only “a few fine details need[ed] to be worked out.” But now, not even a month later, Panos is preparing for an August or September trial, according to an Atlanta television station.
Long is accused of using his power to inappropriately influence and sexually entice four former teenage-members of his congregation at his New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.
When asked about a settlement, Long’s spokesperson would only say there was nothing to report.
