Thanks To Asahd, DJ Khaled Can Now Fly On An Airplane
With No. 1 singles, No. 1 albums, No. 1 Snapchats and No. 1 fatherhood goals, it’s hard to believe that hip-hop’s producer aficionado DJ Khaled is afraid of anything.
However, there is one fear he’s held onto for over a decade that’s kept him from reaching heights that all hip-hop stars have reached at one point or another: flying. After his son, 10-month-old Asahd Khaled, joined him for a ride in the clouds, the Grateful creator’s fear of flying is now a thing of the past.
In clips of Khaled’s 2017 aerial experience, he’s seen boarding a private jet, specially made to his comfort, with Baby Asahd, his fiancé, Nicole Tuck, and other entourage members. It’s bittersweet to see the normally energetic and upbeat DJ with a more reserved and visibly nervous demeanor. But we’re happy to know he took the leap of faith into the sky anyway, and it’s all thanks to the help of Baby Asahd.
“#PART1 @asahdkhaled thank you!,” he wrote in the first clip’s caption on Instagram. “The #KHALEDFAMILY TAKE FLIGHT! I haven't flown in 10 years ! GOD IS THE GREATEST !!”
Lenny Santiago of Roc Nation and a good friend of Khaled’s also applauded his courage, explaining that it’s been a long time coming for him. Khaled had previously turned down pretty much everyone’s encouragement to hop on a flight, as well as huge gigs as a result of his refusal to fly. But with the Young Don in tow, there’s no way Khaled could say no this time around.
“He's been offered jets and a million dollars for a gig and still a NO GO!,” Santiago captioned in an Instagram flick of Khaled and friends right before he took off for the flight. “It wasn't happening no matter what. BUT... Thank God for the Young Prince @asahdkhaled who is basically the main reason we're on this flight. Thanks Asahd!!!!! That's the good news. The bad news is, all promoters... The BAG has just gone UP big time and now every gig must come with a jet. Lol.”
Congratulations, Khaled! We knew you had it in you!
