Kaavia James Union-Wade Turns Six with a Spectacular Barbie-Themed Birthday Bash

Gabrielle Union-Wade describes her as 'the best thing that’s ever happened to me.'

Kaavia James Union-Wade's sixth birthday was celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 9, with a Barbie-themed extravaganza hosted by her superstar parents, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union-Wade

The celebration brought together family and friends for a day of music, dancing, and laughter. From the bright decorations to the upbeat atmosphere, the party embodied everything Barbie represents — fun, imagination, and pink.

The couple welcomed Kaavia in 2018 via surrogate, and Gabrielle has embraced her role not just as Kaavia’s mom but also as a stepmom to the former NBA star’s children from his previous marriage, and Wade’s nephew who is under his legal guardianship.

In 2023, the “Being Mary Jane” actress opened up about becoming a mom at 46. She shared an Instagram video addressing people asking if having kids later in life is worth it."There's a lot that goes into that answer, but in a nutshell, hell yeah it's been worth it," Gabrielle began. "It's changed my life in so many wondrous ways that it does make me wish I had done it earlier just so I have even more time with Kaav, I have even more time as a mom."

She continued, "But for me, I became a mom at the right time because I was healed and I had committed to healing eternally, so I didn't pass all that generational trauma onto Kaav. I wasn't in a place to even take care of myself [before], much less our little miracle, so for me it's absolutely worth it."

Gabrielle, now 52, ended her video by describing Kaavia as "the best thing that's ever happened to me.”
