Gunna Denied Bond Again After Prosecutors Allege Concern For Witness Safety

The rapper’s case is part of a sweeping 56-count RICO indictment against Young Stoner Life Records.

On Thursday (July 7) during a virtual court appearance, Gunna was reportedly denied bond again amid the sweeping 56-count RICO indictment against Young Stoner Life Records.

According to WXIA, the Atlanta rapper was not granted bond and is expected to remain in jail until his January 2023 trial. Previously, he was denied bail on May 23 by a Fulton County judge.

Gunna’s attorney contends there’s nothing indicating their client needs to remain imprisoned until trial, however the judge argued he poses a threat and could intimidate potential witnesses. He only faces one count of conspiracy to violate RICO, as opposed to Young Thug, who is at the center of the full indictment.

The denial of bond comes a day after prosecutors alleged Thug and his YSL associates made “numerous threats to kill or harm witnesses.” According to the New York Times, a motion filed this week reveals prosecutors say witnesses claimed they had been intimidated, causing them to "fear not only for their own lives, but for their families’ lives should they testify.”

Attorneys for the defense have denied accusations that anyone has attempted to intimidate witnesses.
