Wesley Snipes Has Comments About All His Classic Films Being Remade Without Him
The hype for the Blade reboot seems to be strong with many excited to see how Marvel will put its spin on the film more than 20 years after its original release.
Since the announcement of the forthcoming film, it’s also been revealed that Mahershala Ali is interested in being cast as Blade, the main character. Wesley Snipes, the original actor in the 1998 movie, was recently asked what he thought that fit and he seemed to be on board with it.
“It’s not about me and him,” Wesley told the AP. “I’m happy for him to be considered. I’m happy for them looking at him. Flattery… what do they say? Imitation is the best form of flattery.”
Snipes also says that a Blade reboot is proof of the original film’s success. “It’s something that he has acknowledged that he wanted to do, and his family wanted him to do it,” he said. “So I’m appreciative of getting the love, and [that] I’ve created something that others want to carry on and maybe put their own stamp on it.”
Mahershala Ali has most recently starred in the third season of HBO’s True Detective. He won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for 2017’s Moonlight. He followed that up the following year, taking home the same award for his supporting role for Green Book.
