Houston Mayor Gives Drake His Own Day
Drizzy's H-Town tattoo wasn't for nothing. On the heels of his Houston Appreciation Weekend, the city's mayor, Annise Parker, declared June 10 "Drake Day."
Parker officiated the OVO boss at Minute Maid Park on Thursday (June 12), where he kicked off the first HAW at the Astros game.
Before posing for pictures with fans, the "Houstatlantavegas" rapper received a certificate that highlights his significant connections to the city, "Whereas, in 2008, Lil Wayne invited Drake to fly to Houston and tour with him, and as a result, Drake has been a City of Houston Ambassador, paying homage to Houston through his lyrics, such as when he coined the term 'Houstatlantavegas,' and has also been known to show kindness to the city of Houston."
HAW continues today with the adopted Houstonian's return to Warehouse, where he will put on a live performance of his hits.
