The Weeknd’s Upcoming HBO Series ‘The Idol’ Drops First Teaser
The singer plays a cult leader in the show from the creator of ‘Euphoria.’
The initial teaser trailer for the upcoming HBO series The Idol has been released and it’s extremely intriguing.
The series stars The Weeknd and Lily Rose Depp and comes from Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. It follows a female pop singer who starts a romance with a Los Angeles club owner-turned secret cult leader, played by The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye.
According to Deadline, the series underwent a creative overhaul in April with director Amy Seimetz and actress Suzanna Son exiting. The Weeknd helped create the series with Levinson and Reza Fahim.
