Daughter Of Martin Luther King Jr. Tweets Photo Of Civil Rights Icons Taking A Knee In Response To Trump Criticism
Bernice King said, "People didn't approve of the way my father protested injustice either."
In response to the condemnation from Trump and his supporters directed toward NFL players for kneeling during the national anthem, the daughter of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. tweeted a photo of past leaders of the movement taking a knee.
On Sunday, Bernice King tweeted a thread reminding people about how negatively the protests of her father were viewed. Her tweets not only showed support for the NFL players who knelt during the anthem, but she also empathized with those who have lost loved ones to war.
In the tweet, King commented that it's a shame racism still exists this many years after the first photo was taken
She also tweeted an image of her father being taken away for non-violently protesting
King's thread poignantly explained how people that oppose protests want 'order' more than 'justice'
