Dame Dash Blames Social Media Algorithm For Consistent Rap Deaths

“It’s an algorithm that needs to be stopped,” said the hip hop mogul.

It’s been such a hard road for rising rappers who aren’t able to see what they could’ve accomplished due to senseless violence which resulted in numerous deaths, with the most recent being Snootie Wild.

In a recent sitdown with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, Dame Dash sat with the sports legend and analyst for an in-depth interview discussing his career and everything in-between.

A conversation that gauged audiences' attention from the one-hour-long conversation was a stance on the recent murders of the new generation of rappers, who blame the social media algorithm for the deadly exchanges within the hip hop community.

“It’s an algorithm that needs to be stopped,” he explained.

“YouTube should stop paying when people put up beef,” he argued. “Instead of people paying attention to a negative algorithm, they should pay attention to a positive one. If you like to look at trolling and beef and it pops up on your phone. The algorithms are what’s controlling us right now … It’s a program, it’s knowing how to trigger people and it’s profitable [from] our dysfunction.

He continued, mentioning “family killing family instead of killing your enemy is your enemy tricking you to that.”

“We’re aware of it…but we keep doing it,” the rap mogul said.

“My rule of thumb is, I’m not hurting anybody with the same skin color as me,” he expressed.

“It keeps things peaceful.”
