Antonio Brown was released by the Patriots on Friday (September 20th) amid sexual assault allegations. 

The embattled wide receiver took to Twitter to air out some of his grievances in a series of since deleted tweets. 

In the tweets Brown goes after NFL Hall of Fame player turned broadcaster Shannon Sharpe. He also takes aim at Steelers quarterback and ex-teammate Ben Roethlisberger and Patriots owner Robert Kraft.  

Brown calls out what he believes is a double standard in the NFL. Kraft and Roethlisberger have been involved in their own off-field legal incidents involving women and faced little or no punishment from the league. 

Kraft was at a massage parlor in Florida earlier this year where sex traffacking is believed to have occurred and Roethlisberger has had multiple allegations of sexual assault levied against him.

Brown calls out Sharpe and brings up allegations of sexual assault that were once made against him. 

Sharpe immediately went on the attack, responding to Brown’s tweets with a Photoshopped image of Brown as rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine. 

The rapper has been in the news lately for his own legal troubles in which he has appeared in court and “snitched” on people in the entertainment industry for gang affiliations and other crimes. 

Sharpe also clarified the sexual assault allegations made against him.

This is the latest incident in a series of extremely poor choices by Brown. He forced his way out of Pittsburgh and burned bridges on the way out. 

During his short stint in Oakland, he had an issue with his helmet and filed a grievance against the league. He got into a verbal argument with Oakland general manager Mike Mayock and allegedly called him a “cracker.” 

Brown signed with New England and then the sexual assault allegations surfaced. He did suit up and play in week two. But all the noise and issues that surround Brown were too intense and the Patriots released him.

As of now, it is unclear whether or not Brown will ever play in the NFL again. Brown announced via Twitter that he was done with the league.
