Puff Daddy and the Family Are Back on His Final Album
Puff Daddy could be hanging up the mic for good.
According to Bad Boy’s new artist Grizzle, Puff is working on his final album, No Way Out 2, which is the sequel to his classic No Way Out featuring the Family. (The Notorious B.I.G., Ma$e, Lil Kim, Black Rob, Junior M.A.F.I.A., Faith Evans, 112, and many other superstars.) Considering that the first project came out 18 years ago, those are big shoes to fill for Puff and his new roster.
“[The album is] one of a kind. Mindset is to be classic and to be epic and to really live up to that,” Grizzle said during a red carpet interview with Rap-Up. “We know it’s a tall order and we welcome the challenge.”
So, here comes the wish list. What would we like to see? The last real Bad Boy anthem was French Montana’s “Ocho Cinco,” which brought together Puff, Machine Gun Kelly, Red Café and King Los. The current roster has dwindled down a bit to mostly R&B talents (Janelle Monáe, Cassie), but flagship artists like French and MGK are still holding it down for the label.
Puff, the savvy hip hop mogul that he is, would most likely bring together old and new generations of Bad Boy for a solid compilation. There’s no way you wouldn’t listen to Ma$e spit bars alongside MGK. Or Evans, Monáe and Cassie could possibly collaborate for a monumental song. Affiliates like Rick Ross and his MMG crew would definitely lend their talents, considering Rozay was on "Big Homie" and Meek Mill on "I Want the Love." The Hitmen might be involved too, as well as other longtime collaborators like Pharrell. “Finna Get Loose” is already a step in the right direction.
In that same interview, Grizzle did say that Puff’s MMM (Money Making Mitch) is still a separate project that is coming out and we should expect more surprises. Given that Puff hasn’t confirmed or denied No Way Out 2 makes us wonder if it’s actually true. Still, he’s been on this Bad Boy and the Family wave lately, so we’re crossing our fingers.
