Tyrese Addresses Tumultuous Relationship With Ex-Wife During Livestream

The couple divorced in 2020 after three years of marriage and share a 5-year-old daughter.

Tyrese is airing out how he really feels about his ex-wife.

On Monday (Oct. 23), the singer went on Instagram Live to address a recent interview his ex-wife Samantha Lee Gibson did with the “Hardly Initiated” podcast, where she discussed their complex co-parenting relationship and her willingness for reconciliation.

According to Tyrese, Lee’s comments are a publicity stunt.

At first, the “Sweet Lady” singer said he was not going to respond to Lee’s comments while suggesting “she is loving” the attention that has been garnered from them.

“Congratulations, you went viral again over something else you said because you are trying to build up your YouTube page to get your followers up,” he said.

“You packed up a 1-year-old, put a COVID mask on top of the Ring cameras and I was literally in an airplane on my way home to fight for my marriage and my family.”

“You’re heartless,” Tyrese said. “This is all about money.”

Lee and Tyrese married in 2017 and divorced in 2020. They share a daughter, Soraya.

Tyrese broke down the amount of money Lee is requesting in child support: “If you had people in your ear at the time, they must be still in your ear because you still trying to get $20,000 a month for a 5-year-old,” he said. “You make $160,000 a year on your own. This is all a game. You’re clout chasing.”

He also believes Lee is using single motherhood as a tool. “You’re playing on women who are single mothers. You’re playing on women who are actually in abusive relationships that are toxic, dark and dysfunctional.”

Tyrese referenced his songs “Don’t Think You Ever Loved Me" and “Love Transaction” as a mirror of how he thinks Lee felt about him when they were married.

The artist is currently in a relationship with Zelie Timothy. They went public in March 2021, as reported by Essence.
