Drake Teases New Song With Aaliyah
Keeping up with his promise to release even more music this year, Drake has unveiled a new song featuring Aaliyah.
The Toronto rapper — who is a huge fan of the fallen star and recently admitted that he hates "sitting idle" on tour — Instagrammed a video teaser of an unnamed track with his idol Monday (Dec. 3). Posted under the caption "24 HOURS ON THIS BUS," the snippet opens with a short clip of Drizzy mouthing a melody followed by shots from around the tour bus.
It is unclear where the full version will land, but one option could be a special release of songs that didn't make it to the Nothing Was the Same album (including the Hit-Boy produced "Trophies"), instead of the posthumous Aaliyah album he was spearheading. After several months of hype and confusion over his involvement, Timbaland's initial lack of support, and other rumors, Drake officially took a step back. "I think the press got out of hand and they maybe had a different vision for it or something," he told journalist Elliott Wilson in September. "Whatever they end up doing with it, I wish them the best of luck."
Having already released "Enough Said" with Aaliyah last year, the Grammy winner later explained his desire to have one of their songs make it out. "There might be a record on there with me and her. I’m not sure. It was great. It sounded really good."
Aside from the Aaliyah record, Drake also has a new joint with YG produced by Roc Nation's DJ Mustard, which he previewed at a Houston nightclub in November.
