Rep.-Elect Mia Love Says Obama Should Remember Who's the Boss

Mia Love says Obama mustn't treat U.S. like a dictatorship.

Mia Love, the first Black Republican woman to serve in Congress, on Wednesday picked out the House office digs where she will spend the next two years, but is already feeling at home criticizing President Obama.

In an interview on Fox & Friends, the representative-elect from Utah said that taking executive action on immigration and "unilaterally making decisions for the American people" make the U.S. look "more like a dictatorship."

"Seventy-four percent of the people who voted on November 4 stated that the president should be working with Congress on making sure that we have good immigration reform," said Love, the daughter of Haitian immigrants. "It's certainly not something that the president should be doing unilaterally. This is about the American people. He needs to remember who he works for and that is for the people of the United States of America. You can't make unilateral decisions."

Love also blamed the policies of the last six years, which she says hurt both minorities and women, for the focus on her history-making election instead of her platform.

"I want to make sure that we are focused on not dividing Americans; that we are — that we are here based on what we can bring to the table," said the future lawmaker, adding that she's "excited about this whole adventure."
