Look: Donald Trump Now Thinks It's Important To Remember MLK's Legacy After Trashing Rep John Lewis
In honor of Martin Luther King Day, Donald Trump decided to put aside his normal racism in favor of remembering the late Dr. King.
“Celebrate Martin Luther King Day and all of the many wonderful things that he stood for,” he tweeted a few hours ago. “Honor him for being the great man that he was!”
The problem for him though is we have the receipts!
Just two days ago, the president-elect trashed congressman and civil rights leader John Lewis, who protested racism alongside Dr. King at the 1963 March On Washington, via Twitter. Lewis had previously called Trump an “illegitimate president.”
Aside from Trump’s “tribute” to MLK, many others celebrated the decorated leader. President Obama said he and Michelle are participating in community service in D.C. while Bernie Sanders wanted everyone to remember King’s last moments and why he was in Memphis.
“Let us not forget where Dr. King was when he was assassinated,” Sanders tweeted. “He was standing up with exploited workers in Memphis, Tennessee.”
Keri Hilson thanked MLK for his service while people like Magic Johnson used the day to remember all who’ve died at the hands of racism and called for a stop to the innocent killing of young African American men.
On #MLKDay, I want to see us put a stop to the innocent killing of young African American men,” he tweeted. “Dr. King's dream is attainable, but we must remained steadfast in completing the work until that dream is realized for all people.”
