Hurricane Chris Released From Jail On $500K Bond Following Second-Degree Murder Charge

The rapper was arrested on Friday for fatally shooting a man who he claimed tried to rob his car.

Update (6/23/20): Hurricane Chris is out of jail for now after he posted a $500,000 bond for his release. 

The rapper is currently facing a second-degree murder charge after he reportedly shot and killed a man at a local gas station in Shreveport, Louisiana 

While Chris claimed he shot the man in self-defense over an attempted car robbery, following an investigation, he was arrested on Friday morning (June 19), according to XXL.

Hurricane Chris’ attorney has since released a statement, obtained by XXL, which said, “The prayers of Mr. Dooley are with the family of the deceased as well as his own family at this time. He is confident that at the end of a thorough and just investigation of this incident, his name will be cleared.”

  • Previous story (06/22/20): Louisiana rapper Hurricane Chris is reportedly facing a second-degree murder in connection to a shooting incident that left one man dead last week.

  • Following an investigation, Hurricane Chris was arrested Friday morning (June 19) and charged with one count each of second-degree murder and illegal possession of stolen things, according a police report obtained by the Associated Press.

    The shooting reportedly took place at a gas station located in Shreveport, Louisiana.

    According to the police report, the rapper, born Christopher Dooley Jr., claimed he’d shot the alleged victim in self-defense after exiting the store because he thought he was trying to steal his car. 

    However, detectives uncovered that the vehicle did not actually belong to him and had been reported stolen by its owner in Texas.

  • Detectives also claim that video footage of the incident shows that Dooley did not act in self-defense, according to the Associated Press

    The 31-year-old is currently being held without bond at the city jail in Shreveport.
