Hip-Hop Reacts To The Passing Of Rap Pioneer And Podcaster Combat Jack

The famed music exec touched the lives of so many.

The untimely passing of hip-hop vet Combat Jack has undoubtedly shaken the rap community. Early Wednesday morning (Dec. 20), it was announced that the long-time music attorney and podcaster had passed away at the age of 48 after succumbing to complications from colon cancer.

Combat Jack, real name Reggie Ossé, shared his bout with the disease nearly four months ago. He had been absent from his well-known hip-hop and industry news podcast, The Combat Jack Show, which he expressed lament for via Twitter.

“In [seven] years of podcasting, I’ve never missed an episode,” he wrote in his statement on Twitter. “I got hit with some real life s**t. I was recently diagnosed with colon cancer.”

And much in the same way the rap community showed their support after learning of his diagnosis, fans and colleagues have rallied together to mourn the loss of an icon. BET sends its deepest prayers, thoughts and condolences to the family of Reggie Ossé as we pay respect to his legacy at this time.
