?uestlove (Kind of) Apologizes for Bachmann Mishap

?uestlove apologizes for offending "women's groups and non-Bachmann supporters."

Was that a back-handed apology? After being reprimanded for insulting Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann by playing "Lyin' A** B*tch" during her appearance on NBC's Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last week, the Roots drummer and Fallon's bandleader ?uestlove offers a weak mea culpa for the "kamikaze" incident.
“In the end, was it worth it?  Absolutely not,” Love said. “It deeply offended a lot of women’s groups and non-Bachmann supporters, and for that I’m deeply sorry. I’m not parading like I’m the poster boy for the feminist movement, but those who truly know me know that that’s not me. I was really just going with her whole revisionist history angle, I wasn’t calling it out on her being a woman.”
The drummer has his own bone to pick with what he calls "Tea Party extremists," or Bachmann supporters who have flooded his Twitter feed with racial slurs. “I’ve seen some really colorful epithets in the past four days, but ‘n—er f–khead ghetto stick’ is probably the one that takes the cake,” the Roots musician told Pitchfork.com. “I’m still trying to get my head around that one."
Though at one point ?uestlove was afraid he might get fired as leader of the Late Night band, it looks like his job is safe for now. NBC's late night chief issued an apology to Bachmann (she was hoping for one from the president of the network), and NBC had no further comment on the incident.
