Barack Obama Shares His Favorite Listens Of 2019
With several year-ender lists emerging at the close of 2019, our beloved 43rd president of the United States, Barack Obama, decided to jump in and share his favorite listens of the year.
Unveiling his “Favorite Music of 2019 List,” Summer Walker’s “Playing Games,” DaBaby’s “Suge” and Young Thug’s “The London” were just a few selections that made the cut.
Coming straight off of Walker’s debut album, Over It, the breakthrough artist climbed the charts with her 18-track cornucopia of old school and new school reminiscent tracks. “Playing Games” found itself on numerous streaming playlists including Spotify’s Are & B and All The Feels. Walker gave her fans an extended version of “Playing Games” featuring the sounds of Bryson Tiller. For the track, the Trapsoul artist’s swooning vocals are joined at the hips of the LRVN crooner from beginning to end.
DaBaby’s Baby on Baby project would be his first full release of 2019, and “Suge” would be noted as the album’s best-received record racking up nearly 300,000,000 plays on Spotify. The hard-hitting track was nominated for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards as well. The North Carolina-native would go on to release his second 2019 album, KIRK, that would keep his fans riding in the front seat of his punchy lyrics and clever visuals.

His top 35 picks also included Solange’s “Binz,” Frank Ocean’s “In My Room,” Alicia Keys’ “Show Me Love (feat. Miguel),” Wale’s “On Chill (feat. Jeremih),” Koffee’s “Toast” and Katyranda’s “Go DJ (feat. SiR).”
It’s without a doubt that Barack’s wide range in taste in music spans far and wide, but his love for some of our hip-hop and R&B favorites remains prominent on his aux cord.
