Roddy Ricch’s Weapons Charge Dismissed After Arrest At Governor's Ball
Roddy Ricch was released Sunday (June 12) from police custody after cops arrested him in Queens, New York, on Saturday (June 11) for gun possession just hours before his performance at the Governor’s Ball music festival.
The NYPD told the NY Post that a loaded 9mm handgun was discovered under a passenger seat of a vehicle that the rapper and two other men were driving when they were stopped at a checkpoint at the Citi Field venue.
The police charged Ricch, 23, Carlos Collins, 57, and Michael Figueroa, 46, with criminal possession of a weapon. The New York Daily News reports that the cases against Collins and Ricch, whose real name is Rodrick Moore, were dismissed. Figueroa was arraigned Sunday in Queens Criminal Court.
The Los Angeles-based rapper was scheduled to perform at the concert.
"Unfortunately, Roddy Ricch is no longer performing today," the Governors Ball tweeted Saturday night.
The three-day music festival kicked off on Friday, with Kid Cudi headlining the opening night. Ricch was one of 20 artists scheduled to perform on Saturday.
