The Wire , 12 Years a Slave Star Stabbed at Nightclub
Anwan Glover, the actor best known for playing Slim Charles on HBO's The Wire, was stabbed and beaten in a Washington, DC nightclub, TMZ reports.
The incident occured at Cafe Asia in the early hours of Sunday morning, when Glover claims two men started beating him. The actor says he heard someone scream, "he has a knife" and then felt a sharp pain. It's not clear what relationship Glover had to his assailants, if any. The actor, who also had small roles in 12 Years a Slave and LUV, is currently undergoing tests at a local hospital.
A rep for Glover thanks fans for their well-wishes. "It's helping him get through this," the rep adds. In addition, the actor said on his Instagram, "As many of you are aware, i was involved in an incident last night. While supporting another band, at their show, I was involved in an altercation with some unknown people. While defending myself, I was stabbed. I was hospitalized and have been released. I am not a stranger to adversity and when shown hate, I'm going to spread love. I am recovering and will be back soon. My flesh may be stabbed but my spirit is."
Hopefully he'll make a speedy recovery.
