Source: Alex Rodriguez Will Not Face Suspension for Poker Games

MLB apparently set to give A-Rod a second stern warning about his participation in underground poker games.

So it looks like Alex Rodriguez’s penchant for underground poker games won’t cost him games after all.

Sources told the New York Post on Sunday that the New York Yankees third baseman will not be suspended by Major League Baseball for participating in the illegal card games at a Beverly Hills mansion.

The league is interested in talking with A-Rod about his participation, but that meeting has apparently not taken place yet.

"Even if it is determined that he was [playing illegal poker], he will not be suspended at this time for this infraction," a source told the Post. "He will be warned again and not lightly."

That is quite different from reports last week that said Rodriguez could face suspension because he has been warned in the past by both the Yankees organization and MLB about participating in the games. But apparently he could face suspension if he for some reason admits to doing more than participating in the games while at the mansion.

A fight reportedly broke out during the card game, and drugs were allegedly being used by some partygoers. There are no reports that A-Rod was involved with either.

Rodriguez is currently on rehab assignment in Tampa, Florida, but he is expected to return to the Yankees soon.
