46-year-old Idris Elba is everyone’s international bae and the man crush every day of ladies of all ages. Finally, after 33 picks, PEOPLE has dubbed our man "the sexiest man alive"! But let's be honest: they’re just confirming what we’ve known for a while now.

Idris has proved to us time and time again that he is the ultimate heartthrob. Even though he broke a lot of hearts after getting engaged to 29-year-old Sabrina Dhowre, he’s been making us drool since his role in HBO’s The Wire. Idris is serving up serious D.I.L.F vibes on the cover as PEOPLE described him as a “sweet, smoldering superstar.”

Even though Idris has made the list before, it has been some time since PEOPLE awarded the title of sexiest man alive to anyone other than a white man. After getting it right with Idris’ Fast & Furious costar Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in 2015, people were genuinely confused about country star Blake Shelton getting the title last year. Nevertheless, world order has been restored in their choice of the Brit.

In his cover story, Idris stresses the importance of being humble, which probably isn’t that easy when you look as great as he does. And it hasn’t always been that way!

“I was very tall and skinny,” Idris says describing his time growing up in London. “And my name was Idrissa Akuna Elba, okay? I got picked on a little bit. But as soon as I could grow a mustache, I was the coolest kid on the block. Grew a mustache, had some muscles, bonkers… I love being confident, but also I know when to rein it in and just stay humble and grounded.”

And what keeps him grounded? He says that its being a dad and that just makes us love him even more! Idris, who has a 16-year-old daughter named Isan and a 4-year-old son named Winston says, “Being witness to the birth of my children is the biggest and best thing ever. I’m super doting, big hugs, kisses, lots of love-yous. I’m sure my daughter’s like, ‘All right Dad, chill out.’ My son is still at that age where he loves a cuddle.”
