Watch J.R. Smith Make it Rain in Atlanta
The knock on J.R. Smith has always been his mindset and lack of discipline...but no one has ever doubted his game.
When the veteran shooting guard gets hot, he's one of the most-lethal scorers in the NBA. That was on full display Wednesday night during Game 1 of the Cleveland Cavaliers-Atlanta Hawks' Eastern Conference Finals.
Smith made it rain in ATL, scorching the Hawks for a franchise-record eight three-pointers in the Cavs' 97-89 victory. Hawks guards Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver and Kent Bazemore all tried to defend Smith, but nothing stopped the shooting guard from being on fire. His 28 points off the bench accounted for the Cavs' full bench production.
"Once I start shooting, everybody keeps telling me to keep shooting," Smith told the Associated Press.
Smith's effort combined with LeBron James's game-high 31 points paved the way for Cleveland to take Game 1.
Let's see if J.R. can keep lighting it up in Game 2 of the series on Friday night.
