Steph Curry Wants To Know How 'There's 64 Top QBs' And Colin Kaepernick 'Is Not One Of Them'
Steph Curry was in attendance at Levi's Stadium yesterday to watch his hometown favorite Carolina Panthers score a 23-3 road rout of the San Francisco 49ers.
But someone was sorely missing — Colin Kaepernick. And the two-time NBA champion and 2015-16 back-to-back MVP didn't hesitate about letting everyone know just that.
Curry took to his Snapchat account Sunday and posted the hashtag "FreeKaep" under the 49ers logo on the field.
That's the same 49ers who watched Kaepernick opt out of his contract earlier this year and would've released him anyway after the woke QB's 2016 season-long kneeling during the national anthem as a protest against racism and the police brutality against unarmed Black men. So, Curry's message was sent loud and clear in the same Bay Area, which his NBA champion Golden State Warriors share with the Niners.
And Curry's pointed criticism extended to the NFL over Kaepernick as well.
“He definitely should be in the NFL. If you’ve been around the NFL, the top 64 quarterbacks, and he’s not one of them? Then I don’t know what game I’m watching," Curry the Charlotte Observer. “Obviously his stance and his peaceful protest when he was playing here kind of shook up the world and I think for the better. But hopefully he gets back in the league because he deserves to be here and he deserves an opportunity to play. He’s in his prime and can make a team better.”
Absolutely. The first Sunday of NFL action for this new 2017 season proved that many teams could use a veteran like Kaepernick leading the huddle and running the offense at quarterback.
Curry wondering how Kaep isn't considered a top 64 QB in the NFL followed Richard Sherman saying much of the same last month.
That's when the outspoken Seattle Seahawks cornerback ran through a list of active quarterbacks who Kaepernick was statistically better than last season, including Jacksonville Jaguars' Blake Bortles and Los Angeles Rams' Jared Goff.
In the middle of Sherman thoroughly spelling out the NFL's blackballing of Kaepernick and Curry's comments this past weekend was hundreds of people holding a rally outside of NFL headquarters in New York City in support of the woke QB.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has also declared that Kaep "should be on a roster right now."
