Ernie Johnson Gives Sports Emmy Award to Stuart Scott Daughters
Incredibly moving gesture.
Those three words best describe TNT's Ernie Johnson giving the Sports Emmy Award he won for best studio host to the daughters of late ESPN anchor Stuart Scott at the 36th Sports Emmy Awards on Tuesday night.
"This belongs to Stuart Scott," Johnson told Taelor and Sydni Scott, as he handed them his award, as reported by ESPN. "This is your Emmy."
After a courageous, lengthy battle with cancer, Scott died on January 4th. He was 49. Scott was a beloved ESPN anchor for pushing the envelope, infusing hip hop culture into his commetary and developing catchphrases such "As cool as the other side of the pillow" and "Boo-Yah!"
Johnson himself is loved for his work on TNT's Inside the NBA alongside Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O'Neal. Tuesday night marked the third time Johnson has won the Sports Emmy for best studio host.
Johnson also overcame Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2006, making his gesture toward Scott's daughters that much more special.
