Quavo Tapped to Receive Variety’s Humanitarian Award

The Migos co-founder established the Rocket Foundation following the death of Takeoff.

Rapper Quavo will be honored at Variety’s 8th Annual Hitmakers event.

The Grammy-nominated artist will receive the Humanitarian of the Year Award for his work in gun control advocacy. Following the tragic shooting death of his nephew and bandmate Takeoff on November 1, 2022, the Migos co-founder launched the Rocket Foundation to promote gun violence prevention.

In September 2023, the “Hotel Lobby” rapper joined Vice President Kamala Harris and the Congressional Black Caucus for a discussion on gun violence prevention at the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference.

According to its website, the Rocket Foundation’s mission is to “uplift and invest in interventions that effectively reduce community violence so communities can thrive.” 

Other honorees include Jelly Roll, who will receive the Changemaker of the Year Award for his efforts in supporting the incarcerated and those in addiction recovery, and British singer-songwriter RAYE. The rising star will be recognized with the Triple Threat Award for her achievements as an artist and songwriter, as well as her advocacy for the songwriting community.

Charli XCX, previously announced as the Hitmaker of the Year, will also be honored.

Variety’s 8th Annual Hitmakers event will take place on December 7.
