44 Is Screening 42
One of the perks of living in the White House is the ability to get a sneak peek of movies in the family theater.
On Tuesday night, President Obama, the nation's 44th president, is hosting a screening of 42, a new film that tells the life story of baseball great Jackie Robinson and his history-making contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers. The cast and crew will be among the guests at the event.
Earlier in the day, First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed 80 high school and college students from local schools and as far away as Los Angeles. The students participated in an interactive workshop with the film's cast and crew.
Robinson's widow, Rachel Robinson, also joined in the discussion that encouraged the students to apply the inspirational themes from Robinson's life to their own.
