Joanne Borgella Loses Battle With Cancer
Former American Idol contestant and reality star Joanne Borgella died early Saturday morning after a long battle with cancer. She was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer of the womb last year. Since her death, her Curvy Girls co-stars have come forward expressing their admiration for their departed friend.
"I still don't want to believe it," wrote Borgella's friend and fellow plus-sized model Denise Bidot on Facebook. "I remember all the laughs and tears. Joanne you were an amazing woman and I will always cherish the moments we had. I hope you are up in heaven singing your heart out."
Though she rose to fame during her stint on the NUVOtv reality series, 32-year-old Borgella first hit the scene as a contestant on hit singing competition American Idol in 2008.
Borgella's family released a heartwarming statement about her passing, highlighting her unwavering faith and powerful persona: "Her faith, courage and strength were unshaken throughout every obstacle she encountered. Although our family is suffering with this great loss, we find comfort in the closeness Joanne shared with the Lord."
Our condolences to Joanne Borgella's fans, friends and family.
