Marcus Jordan Explains the Significance of Larsa Pippens' New Ring
No wedding bells just yet for Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen.
The couple addressed social media rumors that ran rampant last week after Pippen was spotted out with a diamond ring on the third finger of her left hand, according to PEOPLE.
“First topic is: Marcus is looking for a wedding venue,” Jordan, 32, said, on the couple's podcast, Separation Anxiety. The episode, titled "Venues, Rings, and Other Things!," dropped yesterday, Aug. 22 on iHeartRadio.
Jordan was seemingly alluding to the recent headlines, “Obviously, we were at dinner the other night, and paparazzi got us leaving the restaurant and asked us if there were wedding plans in the works, and so, I think I responded in a cheeky way."
He admitted that he told the paps that a wedding was "in the works" but that he was joking. “I had a hundred calls and text messages of people congratulating us,” Pippen, 49, added.
The lovebirds explained that they were "not engaged," but that the sparkly bauble was, in fact, a promise ring. “Yeah, I definitely gave you a promise ring,” Jordan confirmed. He also added that the question of marriage is a hard one to answer because the couple has been talking about it a lot.
Jordan said that both of his parents reached out to him as the rumors circulated. “When the news started circulating, obviously my parents reached out,” he said that his mom, Juanita Vanoy, sent him “a bunch of eye emojis” and his dad sent several text messages.
The couple uses their podcast platform to update fans and supporters on their relationship. The Real Housewives of Miami star was married to NBA legend Scottie Pippen for 20 years. He was a former teammate of Marcus Jordan's famous father—Michael.
Last month, they addressed the iconic NBA star saying that he didn't approve of the relationship, saying that he was joking with the questioning paparazzi. “At the root of it all obviously is my dad’s relationship with your ex Scottie [Pippen]. Obviously, we never talk about that and I don’t think my dad wanted to comment on that," Marcus said. "There’s always that narrative, the rumor that I’m dating you in some sort of way to get back at whatever was said, and if my dad comes out and says, ‘Yes,’ he’s fuelling that narrative or whatever. I think he said no just in a joking way, knowing how Jordans play around, and so I thought it was funny from the jump.”
“Ultimately, I think my family just wants to see me happy. And so as long as I'm happy, they're happy with whoever I’m dating," Marcus told Entertainment Tonight with Pippen by his side last month.
