Jermaine Jackson Airs Grievances With MJ Tribute Show
Jermaine Jackson is none too pleased with the Michael Jackson tribute concert planned for this October, and the former Jackson 5 member is making his distaste for the concert's promoters known.
Jermaine took to Twitter last night and accused Global Live Events, the firm putting on the show, of using his mother for their own gain.
"...Saddens me that my mother is being used to promote this event. Does Global Live really need an 81yo woman to prop up its event? Stop," he wrote.
MJ's elder brother also took umbrage with Global Live's extension of an invitation to the rock band KISS, who's singer and guitarist Gene Simmons has repeatedly called Michael a pedophile. KISS's invitation has since been rescinded.
"I'm appalled as all fans that GlobalLive @M4tribute booked an artist like KISS after all Gene Simmons had said about Michael," he tweeted before adding, "It doesn't matter KISS' invitation is revoked. This mishandling reinforces my view that this promoter is getting it all wrong."
Jermaine and Randy Jackson have spoken out against the concert since the beginning, arguing that the tribute shouldn't take place during the manslaughter trial of Michael's physician, Conrad Murray. Both of the King of Pop’s parents, Katherine and Joe Jackson, as well as siblings LaToya, Tito and Jackie, are reportedly supporting the event.
Yesterday, it was revealed that representatives of Michael's estate had sent a formal letter of complaint to Global Live, expressing concerns about the impact the concert may have on the King of Pop's legacy.
