Megan Thee Stallion Issues Victim Impact Statement Over Suffering She Experienced Following Tory Lanez Shooting
Megan Thee Stallion is providing a look into her state of well-being since Tory Lanez shot her during a party in July 2020.
“Since I was viciously shot by the defendant, I have not experienced a single day of peace,” Megan said in a statement read by Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Kathy Ta, according to the Associated Press. “Slowly but surely, I’m healing and coming back, but I will never be the same.”
The Houston rapper testified during the trial and said she debated whether to share her statement in person but noted she “simply could not bring myself to be in a room with Tory again.”

Megan also urged Judge David Herriford to issue a stiff sentence and not look at her absence as a gesture of indifference.
“He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma. He tried to position himself as a victim and set out to destroy my character and my soul,” she added, courtroom journalist Meghann Cuniff reported on Monday. “He lied to anyone that would listen and paid bloggers to disseminate false information about the case on social media. He released music videos and songs to damage my character and continue his crusade.”
The statement continues: “At first, he tried to deny the shooting ever happened. Then, he attempted to place the blame on my former best friend. In his tantrum of lies, he’s blamed the system, blamed the press and, as of late, he’s using his childhood trauma to shield himself and avoid culpability.
“For once, the defendant must be forced to face the full consequences of his heinous actions and face justice,” Megan concluded.
The judge had been expected to sentence Lanez on Monday at a hearing, however, attorneys for both sides argued all factors of his potential sentence, as well as allowing seven witnesses to give statements on Lanez’s charitable giving, childhood trauma, and the status as a father of his 6-year-old son.
Prosecutors sought a 13-year sentence for Tory Lanez, while the defense pushed for probation and drug rehab in sentencing memos. The district attorney’s office also cited his “lack of remorse as a basis to deny probation” in the memo.
