Wow! Shocking Details on 'The Wire' Actor Who Got Into a Wild Brawl With a Woman
Political debates can get heated, but this one went way too far.
Wendell Pierce, the actor best known for playing Detective Bunk Moreland on The Wire, found himself on the wrong side of the law this weekend after he viciously attacked a woman for supporting Bernie Sanders.
Pierce has been charged with simple battery for the assault, which occurred outside of his Atlanta hotel in the wee hours of the morning. Atlanta police officer Donald T. Hannah described the arrest as routine, adding that Pierce "made no indication he was famous, nor did the officer inquire."
The drama reportedly started when Pierce, an avid Hillary Clinton supporter, started chatting with the woman and her boyfriend in the hotel lobby at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday. The conversation turned to politics, and Pierce discovered that the couple were Sanders supporters.
That's when things got physical, and Pierce is accused of grabbing the woman's hair and smacking her on the head. He was arrested and charged and released later that same day on $1,000 bond.
Next time, maybe Pierce should stick to talking about the weather.
Thankfully, most Clinton supporters don't resort to violence to stand up for their candidate. See what it's like to attend a democratic debate with What's at Stake above.
