Heroic 11-Year Old Honored For Saving Fellow Student From Choking And Woman From House Fire In One Day
Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes, they’re 11-years-old and can be found sporting glasses and an all-black hoodie.
Well, such was the case with Oklahoma sixth-grader, Davyon Johnson.
Johnson was named honorary sheriff's deputy and the hero and was presented with an honorary officer certificate last week by the Muskogee Police Department after managing to save a classmate who was choking and rescue a woman from a house fire all in one day.
Both almost tragic incidents took place on December 9. Johnson started his day off by performing the Heimlich maneuver on a classmate who was choking, according to a Facebook post by the school district. Then, later that evening, he helped a woman whose house was on fire.
Davyon's school principal, Latricia Dawkins, recounted the school choking to local outlet, Enid News and Eagle, explaining that a student was removing the cap from their water bottle to fill it up when the cap got stuck in their throat. That’s when Davyon saw the student choking and performed the Heimlich maneuver, which dislodged the cap, saving the student.

Come to find out, saving lives was always an intention of Johnson’s.
"He has always indicated that he wants to be an EMT," Dawkins told the newspaper. "So he got to put that desire into action and immediately saved that young man." Later that evening, he saw a woman's house on fire and helped her off her porch to get to her vehicle.
We’ll be looking out to see what the future holds for this natural born hero.
