Meet The Kid Who Stole America’s Heart During The DNC
Louisiana Rep. Cedric Richmond, brought in his son, Cedric Jr., to open the final night of the Democratic National Convention and just like that, the little boy became an instant viral star.
While standing in front of artwork commemorating the Civil Rights Movement, the young man followed an opening monologue from former Democratic candidate Andrew Yang and moderator, actress Julia Louis-Dreyfuss.
Richmond’s son recited the Pledge of Allegiance, which has been done on each of the preceding nights of the convention, either by a group in unison or with multiple people reciting their own part. Cedric Jr., however took the mantle by holding his hand over his heart and speaking the words of the pledge.
"This time, do it while you're smiling, OK?" Richmond said to his son.
