Erica Mena Gets Dragged For Making A Truly Awful Joke About Hurricane Harvey
Timing is everything when it comes to comedy, and Erica Mena had to learn that lesson the hard way.
The model-turned-reality star got an earful on social media after posting a very ill-advised joke about the catastrophic flooding of Houston following Hurricane Harvey.
In the since-deleted post, Mena posted words over a black background that simply read, "Pray for la it's FLOODED with fake n*ggas."
After the vicious blowback in her comments, she issued a second statement claiming that she was the victim. "Why is it always the ones who don't do anything for themselves who are quick to comment and make a big deal over what you do and what you post on your page???" she wrote. "They make a big deal claiming it's insensitive. Whats insensitive is you can't and won't do anything so why you checking others?? If you can't match what I already donated I could care less what you think!!! PERIOD."
Welp. Turns out Erica does care what people think, because she then deleted that second statement as well.
We'll be keeping an eye out for a more sincere apology from Erica, but in the mean time, some folks on Twitter caught wind of her posts and are looking to hold her accountable for her offensive remarks:
Bad jokes aside, see how some celebrities are using their platforms to help Houston with BET Breaks, above.
