Cee Lo Green has got the voice when it comes to animated films! Hotel Transylvania, voiced by Green as well as Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez, rose to the top of the box office this weekend, smashing records to become the biggest September debut in history. The film took in an estimated $43 million.
Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon Levitt's Looper also did well, bringing in over $21 million and earning critical raves. Justin Timberlake and Clint Eastwood's Trouble With the Curve hung in at number three, while Resident Evil: Retribution also stayed in the top 10.
Not so lucky? Won't Back Down, the education reform drama starring Viola Davis and Maggie Gyllenhaal, which did worse than Team USA at a math tournament. The film, which met with protests from the teacher's union, barely cracked the top 10 with a mere $2.7 million in wide release.
Next week, Liam Neeson's Taken 2 will attempt to snatch the top of the B.O., along with the Glee-ified musical Pitch Perfect, starring Anna Kendrick and Ester Dean.
