BET.com Exclusive: Bonus Feature From Jamie Foxx's Thunder Soul
How do you say thank you to the man who changed your life? A group of alumni from Houston's Kashmere High School found a unique way. Thirty-five years after graduation, members of Kashmere High's jazz band came together to play a tribute concert for their 92-year-old teacher Conrad Johnson, who in the 1970s turned the rusty band into an awards-winning groove ensemble.
The event and the lives of Johnson and his former students is captured in funk-dafied style in Thunder Soul, an award-winning documentary directed by Mark Landsman and executive produced by Jamie Foxx. Think Glee, only with an abundance of tight 'fros and bell bottoms.
After winning top prizes at SXSW and the Los Angeles Film Festival, Thunder Soul captivated audiences and critics when it was released theatrically last September. The doc drops on DVD this Tuesday.
Check out our exclusive clip above from theThunder Soul DVD, which is the 1974 doc, Prof & the Band.
