Russell Simmons is ‘Deeply Sorry’ After Public Feud with Daughters and Ex-Wife
This highly-publicized family feud has just taken a turn.
Def Jams Recordings executive Russell Simmons, 65 is in some hot water after the family feud between model ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons, 48 and daughters Ming Lee Simmons, 23 and Aoki Lee Simmons, 20, went public Monday.
The feud began after the executive shared an Instagram story, saying, “Stop telling fathers they should have fought harder to see their children & start asking mothers why he had to fight at all," implying his ex-wife as the target of the post.
Ex-wife Kimora then took this post as an opportunity to share her side of the now public family matters, taking to her Instagram story to share allegations of threats and abuse. "I'm so sorry to have to do this," she said. "But this man has been threatening my kids' lives. I'm hearing so much more now. We won't be bullied threatened or afraid."
She continued, dropping that this was "The same abusive ish." The model pleaded by the end of her post, writing, “Stop it please. Your own flesh and blood? Enough is enough."
Daughter Aoki stood in her mom’s corner, posting text conversations with her father detailing alleged harassment and blame for their family’s situation.
Russell later made an apologetic Instagram post for his two daughters, captioned “God is testing you a little bit, it’s ok, be strong. . . they are called growing pains . . . as you know, we grow through adversity and struggle . . .”
He continued by saying he was “DEEPLY sorry for being frustrated and yelling . .” referring to an earlier Instagram post Aoki shared about a video of her father yelling at her on FaceTime.
The executive sealed the post by saying, “but know this . . . there are no conditions . . . for sure i love you guys more than i love myself.”
Aoki also alluded to the possibility of mental illness, sharing, “Some of us do think he's mentally ill or experiencing something like dementia," she wrote in one post. "He really acts like he hates and does not know his children frequently."
According to PEOPLE.com, Kimora accused Russell of being “abusive” to the women in his life, as 18 other women have made allegations of sexual misconduct against him, which have been the focus of the documentary, On The Record. He has denied all accusations.
