Florida Police Chief Agrees That Zimmerman Is a "Ticking Time Bomb"
The police chief of Lake Mary, Florida, where George Zimmerman resides, recently had a telling email exchange, where he agreed that Trayvon Martin's killer is a ticking time bomb.
"Zimmerman is a Sandy Hook, Aurora waiting to happen your job is to protect the communities you serve and you are failing big time," said Santiago Rodriguez in an email to police chief Steve Bracknell.
In response, Bracknell said he agreed with Rodriguez' comments in "reference to Sandy Hook." Think Progress published the full email chain here.
However, when Think Progress reached out to Bracknell later on in the week, he walked back his comments saying that he was “referring to the fact that [Zimmerman] seems to be involved in incidents” involving firearms.
Earlier this week, Shellie Zimmerman said on a 911 call that her estranged husband punched her father in the nose, grabbed an iPad out of her hand and smashed it and threatened them both with a gun. George Zimmerman was detained, but not arrested. Shellie and her father did not press charges.
Watch this raw footage obtained from WFTV of Zimmerman being ordered to the ground:
Zimmerman, who was found not guilty in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, has had a few run-ins with the law in recent weeks. Just last week he was pulled over for speeding in Lake Mary, Florida. He must pay a fine of $256.
In August, Zimmerman was pulled over by police in Forney, Texas, for speeding on a highway and was carrying a gun in his glove compartment. Zimmerman was cleared to go with a verbal warning.
Separately, Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, announced Thursday that she has filed for divorce. She told Good Morning America in an interview that her husband is selfish, reports the Associated Press. "I have a selfish husband and I think George is all about George," she said.
