Michelle Williams Responds To The Internet’s Total Annihilation Of Her White Fiancé After His Comments About Race
Michelle Williams and her fiancé, Chad Johnson, have been showing their rocky journey to the altar in their new reality series, Chad Loves Michelle.
While many were all here for the couple's swirly love, at first, hoards quickly turned on Johnson after he made some seemingly insensitive comments about her mental health in the heat of an argument. Now, after the internet dragged her man to smithereens, the Destiny's Child alum is speaking out in his honor.
The internet's collective side-eye was introduced when Johnson, in response to Williams claiming he may not understand her form of communication due to their racial differences, said, "Did you take your meds, today?"
As expected, many found his words to be unnecessarily hitting at a sore spot for the singer who recently, and openly, has been battling depression.
Despite many unsolicitedly coming to her defense, the "Say Yes" crooner took to the Frank & Wanda show to defend her man.
"That conversation that we were talking about happened the night before," she said. "It was not filmed, so people don't know what I was saying to Chad for Chad to be like, 'Did you take your meds?' Now, I didn't like when he said that, but people also did not hear when he apologized."
Williams went on to add that the public's failure to look for the whole story is what bothered her and her partner most.
"I think that's what irritates us," she continued. "We are a sound-bite generation. We won't take the time and the effort to actually watch a whole episode. We will take a sound bite and we judge a person, we judge a show, we judge a relationship based off of one little clip. He apologized and I apologized for cutting. I got my momma in me. I can cut you with words."
