Russell Simmons to NRA: We Don't Trust You, Sincerely, Black America
Russell Simmons isn't buying the NRA's new campaign to gain African-American support as gun control has become a hot issue these past few months. The rap mogul tweeted and wrote a blog post on his website Global Grind opposing the NRA's video introducing their new Black spokesperson, Colion Noir.
Noir, who calls himself the "urban gun enthusiast," is shown in the video telling Blacks they need protection against the government.
“No one wants to fight for their protection, they want the government to do it,” Noir says. “The same government who at one point hosed us down with water, attacked us with dogs, wouldn’t allow us to eat at their restaurants and told us we couldn’t own guns…The only person responsible for your safety is you.”

Quite hypocritical of them, as during the Civil Rights movement, when the government was overtly oppressing our people, the NRA was quick to pressure legislatures across the country to get the guns out of the hands of the Black militants who were ready to fight back.
