Keke Palmer Opens Up About Setting Boundaries
In an exclusive interview with People, Keke Palmer talked about her newfound boundaries given all the lessons sheâs learned this year.
The star who once wore her heart on her sleeve has chosen not to be as much of an open book anymore, and her decision is grounded in a thoughtful rationale.
According to Palmer, she has had to make changes to how open she is willing to be with the public. "The thing with social media is that it can easily be a place where you can work, but it also blurs the line between what is work and what is real life," says Palmer to People. "I can't control how everybody's going to take something. And also I'm having my own personal boundaries for what I feel like I want out there or what I want to give people the opportunity to speak on."
This comes after she went viral on the internet at Usher's Las Vegas residency. What came next, no one could have expected. The father of her newborn, Darius Jackson, took to Twitter after the show in July, writing on X (formerly Twitter), "It's the outfit tho.. you a mom." The two welcomed their son Leodis earlier this year.
Since the internet doesn't play about Lauren Keyana Palmer, they held nothing back when defending her.
Now, Palmer is making protecting her privacy a priority. "I think I learned a lot of different things along the way in terms of what my boundaries are, what I'm willing to share, what I'm not willing to share. I think it's hard to defend yourself to people that don't even know you or that already have so many preconceived notions about you."
