CNN Anchor Laura Jarrett, Valerie Jarrett’s Daughter, Gave Birth To A Girl
CNN’s Early Start co-anchor Laura Jarrett and her husband Tony Balkissoon introduced their newborn daughter to the world on July 18 via Instagram.
“Meet June! Born 7/17. 6lbs and 9oz. Fan of formula, head wraps, and cuddles. Ready to meet her big brother James soon,” the proud parents captioned a photograph of their little bundle of joy.
PEOPLE reported Saturday (July 29) that the baby’s name honors two women in her family. Her first name, June, is the middle name of Jarrett’s mother, Valerie Jarrett, who served as former President Barack Obama’s senior advisor. June’s middle name is Tahay, which is the first name of Balkissoon’s mom.
"We're so thrilled June is finally here!" Jarrett told PEOPLE. "She has a big appetite and a big voice — fitting in the family already. Her older brother James has also welcomed her arrival, helping prep her bottles and singing to her — loudly."
Jarrett graduated from Harvard Law School in 2010, according to CNN. She joined the network in 2016 from her law practice and covered legal news stories during the Trump administration, including the firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. She currently anchors Early Start with Christine Romans.
