Dave Chappelle Calls Out Katt Williams for Criticizing Fellow Black Comedians
Dave Chappelle took the stage at MonDERAYS at the Hollywood Improv on Friday, hosted by comedian DeRay Davis, addressing controversial remarks made by fellow comedian Katt Williams in a recent "Club Shay Shay" interview. Chappelle talked candidly about Williams' comments, particularly targeting other Black comedians.
Chappelle was surprised that Williams only criticized Black comics. "What part of the game is this? He only ethered n****s. He didn’t say anything about any of these white boys. None of these white boys function like that," Chappelle remarked. "Katt is one of the best painters in the game. So why are you drawing ugly pictures of us? Stop."
Williams' recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast had stirred controversy as he made comments about notable figures such as Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, Cedric the Entertainer, Tiffany Haddish, and Steve Harvey. The interview gained widespread attention, even becoming the subject of a recent "Saturday Night Live" skit.
"Hurt people hurt people, but I am a hurt person that never hurt people, and he does it all the time: ‘Fuck this one, and fuck that one, and fuck this one,'" Chappelle said.
Interestingly enough, Williams didn't criticize Chappelle during his interview with Deion Sanders.
