Howard University Reports Record of 105 Ph.D.'s
Howard University's graduating class of 2014 has made history, earning 105 Ph.D.'s — the most ever at the institution. The HBCU will also boast the highest number of African-Americans receiving their doctoral degree in the STEM fields.
This beats Howard's previous record set in 2008, when the university awarded 101 graduates with doctoral degrees. Howard remains the top producer of on-campus doctoral degrees among HBCU's in the U.S. African-Americans who receive their bachelor's degree from Howard are more likely to enventually receive their Ph.D. than graduates from any other HBCU.
Howard's 146th Commencement ceremony takes place Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 10 a.m. Sean ''Diddy" Combs is the keynote speaker.
