Michael Strahan to Join Good Morning America
Is Good Morning America hoping to use Michael Strahan as a Hail Mary pass to help its struggling ratings? The ABC network morning show is reportedly on the verge of bringing in the Live With Kelly and Michael host to co-host GMA three to four times per week, according to TMZ.
Strahan, the former NFL player turned media star, won't be replacing anyone on the show. Instead, he'll be an addition to the current host panel, appearing in various segments starting at 7 a.m. before shuttling uptown to the talk show he already co-hosts at 9 a.m. with Kelly Ripa.
ABC is expected to announce the news later this week. The network has reportedly been in talks with Strahan for months. Assuming the deal goes through, Strahan will add a dose of much-needed masculinity to the female-dominated host panel. (Currently, George Stephanopoulos is the only male host on the show, accompanied by four female hosts.)
Looks like Strahan will need an extra strong cup of coffee to keep up this hectic morning schedule.
